Should Japan rethink its relationship with the United States?
For many years, Japan has relied on the United States to protect Japanese citizens. Some insist that Japan should not change this relationship. However, I strongly believe that it is necessary for Japan to reconsider it for the following reasons.
Firstly, Japan does not need much support from the US anymore. For example, just after World War Ⅱ, Japan was a poor country and needed the US’s help. But now, Japan is one of the richest countries in the world. Thus, Japan can keep on growing without their auspice.
Secondly, Japan should collaborate more with other Asian countries rather than the US. For instance, China and India has a lot of population, so it is a good opportunity for Japanese companies to resolve the matter in lack of workforce. Therefore, the cooperation with these Asian countries is more important for the Japanese economy than the one with the US.
Finally, Japan should change the relationship because of the US’s policy. To illustrate, the president of the US, Donald Tramp focuses his mind on his own country’s benefit. I do not feel that Japan is gaining any merit. As a result, Japan no longer have the need to rely on the US’s help.
In conclusion, now is a perfect timing for Japan to try to change its relationships with the US. Japan has become a great country and has enough resources to manage the nation by itself. Also, Japan should deepen the relations with the Asian countries. Furthermore, Japan cannot count on the president of the US.
For many years, Japan has relied on the US to protect Japanese citizens. Some insist that Japan should change the relations because Japan has become one of the richest countries in the world and does not need their support anymore. However, I strongly believe that it is meaningful for Japan not to change the relationship for the following reasons.
Firstly, Japan still needs the US’s support to protect the nation. For example, Japanese armed forces are not enough strong, so having the assistance from the American ones would be effective to prevent other countries from invading Japan. Thus, the bond with the US is necessary for the national security of Japan.
Secondly, the collaboration with the US is essential for the Japanese economy. For instance, Japanese automobile manufacturers are exporting a number of cars to the US. As less people in Japan are willing to own cars, the benefit the US market brings is necessary to the automobile industry in Japan. Therefore, Japan should keep the positive relation with the US as a business partner.
Finally, Japan does not need to reconsider the relationship with the US because Japan counts on the US to export food for Japanese people. To illustrate, Japan is importing a lot of crops from the US. It is surprising to see how much food we consume is from US. Hence, the US is and will continue to be a necessary partner for Japan.
In conclusion, it is important for Japan to keep the relationship with the US as long as possible. This connection has the positive effects on Japan in terms of national security, economy, and food.
