Is the decreasing birthrate in Japan a major problem?
Nowadays, birthrate in Japan has been decreasing rapidly. Some people insist that this tendency is not a serious problem and Japan can keep growing by accepting more immigrants. However, I believe that this assumption is inadequate and we should regard the decreasing birthrate as the most important issue for Japan for the following reasons.
Firstly, the decline of birthrate would worsen the labor shortage in Japan. To illustrate, Japan needs more workers to keep up with the growth of the Japanese economy. If the decline continues, many organizations cannot find enough workers to operate their service. Thus,we should stop the downturn of the birthrate for the Japanese economy.
Secondly, the declining birthrate will cause negative impacts on the pension system in Japan. For instance, Japan is an aging society and we need tremendous amount of money to take care of the elderly. The decrease of the number of children would make it almost impossible to sustain the pension system. It is said that as this recession continues, young people working now won’t be able to receive anything. Therefore, the declining trend is a serious issue for the future generations in Japan.
Finally, the decreasing birthrate will change the Japanese market less attractive for marketing. For example, the Japanese consumer market is shrinking and many businesses are not generating as much profit as they used to some decades ago. Moreover, many foreign companies may shut down their operation bases in Japan. As a result, Japanese economy would be devastated.
In conclusion, we should think more seriously about the decreasing birthrate in Japan and tackle the issue as soon as possible. This movement would cause many problems such as shortage of workers, unstable pension system, and decline of the Japanese economy.
Nowadays, birthrate in Japan has been declining rapidly. Some people insist that the tendency is a serious issue because it causes negative effects on Japanese economy. However, I believe thatwe should be more optimistic and understand it is not difficult to settle the problem for the following reasons.
Firstly, we can stop the decline of Japanese population by accepting more immigrants like other countries. For example,UK has let many immigrants work within the country. This enabled UK to secure the workforce that they lacked. Thus, accepting more immigrants can alleviate the declining workforce even if the birthrate decreased.
Secondly, we can deal with the decrease of birthrate and the worker shortage by using IT technologies. For instance, some restaurants and shops are trying to introduce the latest technologies. Not only can they reduce the costs but also increase the amount of sales with fewer employees. In short,IT technologies can provide the solution with the Japanese companies.
Finally,we should set our first priority on dealing with the soar of the number of the elderly. To illustrate, we need to use money for the pensions for the elderly people, not to mention, keep money for their medical bills. Therefore,we should think more seriously about the aging population instead of tackling the decrease of birthrate.
In conclusion, I disagree with the idea that the decreasing birthrate is an urgent problem for Japan. That’s because we can deal with the problem by accepting more immigrants and using IT technologies. Also, we should try to recover from the aging society more urgently.
